DNR Continues Clean Up After Manure Spill

Local News

The Department of Natural Resources and New Horizon Dairy of De Pere are working to contain a manure runnoff near Wrightstown off Fair Road, west of State Highway 57.

The runoff has entered an unnamed stream along the east and south sides of the field and into a ditch on the north side of the field. However, with warming temperatures and melting snow the containment has been challenging.

An estimate of the volume of runoff has not been determined yet, but an estimated 60,000 gallons of manure-contaminated water has been collected by vacuum trucks.

The DNR will continue to work with the dairy owner to contain the spill.
