A 58-year-old man is in custody and facing several charges after allegedly ramming a De Pere police vehicle.

Police say it happened on Monday around 11:51 a.m. when they were alerted to a vehicle driving erratically on I-41 heading northbound.

An officer located the 2006 Inifinity sedan, and tried to initiate a traffic stop by activating both lights and siren – but the suspect continued driving.

Police say that officers then attempted to box the vehicle in, at which point the driver rammed the De Pere Police vehicle. The driver then continued on the highway, reaching speeds of up to 95 miles per hour.

Police say spike strips were successfully deployed, deflating at least one tire on the driver’s vehicle. The vehicle was finally stopped on I-41 near E. Stiles Tower Road in Oconto County, where the driver was taken into custody.
