Elsa the dog is making a recovery from train vs car accident

Local News

In December, Local Five told you about Elsa, a dog injured in a deadly car versus train accident in December in Oshkosh is on the road to recovery.

The accident left Elsa fighting for her life after breaking her pelvis and spending a night wandering in the cold.

The Oshkosh Humane Society has shared this video of Elsa during her water therapy.

To get her motivated, there is a dollop of peanut butter on the tank.

The underwater treadmill exercises help with her recovery after her orthopedic surgery.

The Humane Society says Elsa is exceeding her medical care team’s expectations after suffering multiple pelvic fractures.

Once Elsa is medically cleared, she will be available for adoption.

You may remember that crash killed 37-year-old Emily Mueller and 43-year-old Jessica Roby.

Elsa’s owner, Shawn Schettle is charged with two counts each of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle and hit-and-run resulting in death in connection to the incident.

He surrendered Elsa to the Humane Society.
