FDL residents report overnight gunshots at two different locations, police asking for public’s help

FOND DU LAC, Wis. (WFRV) — The Fond du Lac Police Department is investigating reports of shots being fired in two separate locations Thursday night.

Police say they were called to the area of 137 E 2nd St. at about 10:39 p.m. Thursday evening for a report of possible gunshots heard in the area.

Officers say they did not locate any evidence of shots being fired at the time.

While recanvasing the area Friday morning, officers found damage to a vehicle in the area of 159 E 2nd street.

Police say they also recovered a shell casing.

In a second incident, the police department says they are investigating the area around Morris Street near Military where shots were fired into a home.

According to authorities, a homeowner called police at about 2 a.m. Friday stating he heard possible gunshots but did not see anything or find any type of damage.

The homeowner also reported hearing possible gunshots around midnight but did not call the police.

Officers and crime scene investigators say they returned to the homeowner’s residence at about 6:30 a.m. Friday when bullet holes were discovered inside the home.

The home on Morris Street was occupied at the time, but no one was injured in either incident.

Police say it’s unknown if a vehicle was involved in either incident or if the incidents are related.

Crime scene investigators and detectives canvased the neighborhoods in both incidents throughout the morning looking for possible evidence or witnesses.
