An early morning fire at the city of Algoma marina caused damage to several boats.

When Algoma Fire and Rescue arrived shortly after midnight, three boats were engulfed in flames and two more were on fire.

Three boats sunk from all of the water they took on to put the flames out.

Officials say they are also worried about a fourth boat going under, but the fifth damaged boat seems to be holding up well.

There was a man sleeping on one of the boats when it caught fire, but he was able to walk away without any injuries and no one else was injured in the blaze.

The Coast Guard and DNR are assisting in the case.

The next step for emergency responders is to get the sunken vessels out of the water as safely as possible. The owners of those boats will need to hire contractors to cleanup the area so there is minimal to no damage to wildlife and the environment.
