A Thanksgiving morning fire has displaced five people in Green Bay, according to firefighters.
The Green Bay Metro Fire Department was called to a basement fire at a home on the 900 block of Heyrman Street around 6:45 Thursday morning.
When firefighters first arrived they found heavy smoke coming from all sides and fire venting out a rear basement window. Crews made a quick interior attack knocking down the majority of the fire within minutes, according to The Green Bay Metro Fire Department.
No one was injured in the fire, but a family of five is without a home this Thanksgiving.
Green Bay Metro Fire estimates the fire caused $50,000 worth of damage. The heaviest damage is located in the basement with smoke and water damage to the first floor.
Crews remained on scene for several hours overhauling and checking for extension. The family is being assisted by The American Red Cross.
