Former Wisconsin Attorney General Peg Lautenschlager passes away at age 62

Peg Lautenschlager, a former Wisconsin Attorney General and the only woman to ever hold the position in our state, has died from cancer at age 62. 

Lautenschlager served Wisconsin for thirty years as a passionate politician and Community advocate. 

In her political career, she served in the State Assembly as a Representative of Fond du Lac. 

She was also the first woman to serve as Winnebago County’s District Attorney. 

Lautenschlager also became the United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin. 

Various Democratic and Republican Leaders expressed their sympathy her family. 

Lautenschlager passed away early Saturday morning at her home in Fond du Lac surrounded by her family. 

She was a mother to five children.
