A man was arrested after he led police on chase overnight.

At 12:17 a.m. on Wednesday, officers responded to an apartment in the 200 block of West Calumet Street for a weapons call. The man called police saying that he was in the parking lot with a gun and “wanted to kill a cop.”

Multiple agencies arrived to help surround the man. Dispatchers continued talking to the man as officers tried to locate which car he was in.

Officials say that as talks with the man progressed, he was able to drive around the cars.

Officers chased the man onto 441 northbound.

Stop sticks were deployed on I-41 near STH 441, and the man finally came to a stop near the I-41/STH 55 exit.

More negotiations were made with man as he was on the freeway, but he was eventually taken into custody at 1:50 a.m.

The 33-year-old Fox Crossing man was charged with OWI and eluding and was taken to the Winnebago County Jail.
