Update: The Brewers beat the Los Angeles Dodgers Friday night— and that means free burgers for fans.
The George Webb Restaurant chain promised free hamburgers if the team wins 12 in a row.
And since the Brewers win last night made 12 in a row– the burgers are free. The chain made the announcement on their website.
It’s a commitment they’ve only had to honor once — in 1987 – when they gave away 168-thousand burgers.
You can scoop yours up next Thursday between 2 and 6 p.m. The nearest restaurants are in Peshtigo and West Bend.
The Milwaukee Brewers will head back on the mound to face off against the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Championship Series.
And if the Brew Crew pulls out another “W”, one of Wisconsin’s favorite restaurant chains will be giving away free burgers to faithful fans.
The Brewers are four wins away from going to the World Series (it would be the team’s first since 1982). But only one win away from getting all of us free burgers.
The George Webb restaurant chain has promised free hamburgers if the team wins 12 in a row. A commitment it has only had to honor once in 1987 in over 70 years.
At that time, George Webb restaurants served just under 170,000 hamburgers.
This tradition dates back to the 1940s when George Webb, himself, predicted the team would win 12 games in a row.
“It’s great for business,” said Matt Levknecht, Director of Operations at George Webb in Peshtigo. “We definitely want to win. We don’t want a loss. Then we can watch them in the World Series, hopefully.”
If the Brewers win and the burgers sizzle, you can scoop yours up at George Webb on Thursday, October 18, between 2-6pm.
