Gas Leak Reported in Downtown Winneconne

UPDATE: Wednesday, May 2nd 8:30pm

Alliant Energy serves that area of Winneconne and says the gas leak has been capped off and repaired. A contractor was working on a water line when he hit a gas line about 4:30 pm.

About a dozen people were evacuated but have since been let back inside their homes and businesses.

Emergency crews say a gas leak was reported in downtown Winneconne.

Local businesses residents are being evacuated.  

People in the area of 4th to 1st Street and Main to Adams Street were told evacuate to the Winneconne Fire Department.
