GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) Newly elected Mayor Eric Genrich gave his first Community Update on Local 5 This Morning and touched on everything from his first week in office, to his plans for the city in the future.

“People have been so welcoming and encouraging,” said Genrich, “It’s an incredible privilege to be in this spot. Of course there’s a lot of information to take in, but it’s been a great process.”

Former Green Bay Mayor Jim Schmitt previously told Local 5 that he wanted the next mayor to have a smooth transition into the position.

“He’s been incredible gracious. Both he and his wife Dona have been really welcoming to our family, and Jim has been a great mentor to me thus far,” said Genrich. “He made the transition really smooth.”

Genrich then discussed his agenda for the city moving forward.

“Obviously we have some big challenges to get after. Infrastructure [is] probably the largest and occupied most of our time with the campaign,” said Genrich.

Mayor Genrich will also be hosting an open office hour on Thursdays from 3:30-4:40 p.m. where the public can take a few minutes to ask him questions, or state any concerns they may have.

“I want to be as transparent and accessible as possible with the people of Green Bay,” Genrich said. “This is just the first of many opportunities for citizens to engage with city government.”

Mayor Genrich will be giving his Communuity Update on Local 5 This Morning every other Tuesday at 6:30 a.m.
