GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – The areas of Western Avenue and Perkins Avenue in Green Bay have been cleared for travel after a Saturday morning homicide investigation.

According to the Green Bay Police Department, at 12 p.m., police cleared the scene at Western Avenue and Perkins Avenue.

Residents will be allowed to once again travel through the area.

The closure resulted after a 34-year-old man was found with severe injuries that resulted in his death on Saturday, just after 5 a.m.

Police have not released further details surrounding their investigation at this time. Local 5 will continue to update this story as it progresses.

Man found dead in Green Bay, avoid Western Ave.

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – Select areas on the west side of Green Bay will remain closed for several hours after a man was found dead on Saturday morning.

According to the Green Bay Police Department, just after 5 a.m., officers responded to the intersection of Western Avenue and Perkins Avenue, located on the west side of Green Bay, for a report of shots being fired and a person down in the street.

Upon arrival, police say they found a 34-year-old man with severe injuries. Officials immediately began lifesaving measures, to no avail. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say this is an ongoing investigation, and the scene and surrounding areas will be closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic for the next several hours. 

While the department believes this was an isolated incident, they are asking the public to be cautious, know their surroundings, and report any suspicious activity to law enforcement.
