Gov. Walker Signs Youth Apprenticeship Bill in Ashwaubenon

Local News

Today Governor Scott Walker was in the area to sign a youth apprenticeship bill into law.

Assembly Bill 745 was signed into law at the Bohemian Park Apartments construction site this afternoon. This bill will expand opportunities for high school seniors to earn work experience while in school.

Governor Walker says that high school apprenticeships have more than doubled in the past few years.

“Today, this piece of legislation is just one more tool in our efforts to make sure we can connect the dots in jobs that are available, good paying family supporting jobs, that are available, and getting the skills that are needed.”

The Governor also mentioned today that he wants to make apprenticeships available to students as early as 6th grade so they can start thinking about the future and what they want to do.
