The Green Bay Area Public School District is planning for the future and it needs your help.

This week the school district mailed out a survey to residents hoping to gauge public support for a number of pressing needs the district faces now, as well as in the years to come.

One of the current concerns is overcrowding at some schools on the east side of Green Bay, where more people are moving to live.

“We already have some capacity issues on the east side,”said Andy Surnow, chief financial officer for the district. “We have been growing and we’ll see some modest growth moving forward for the next five years we believe.”

Schools like Preble High are operating with roughly 200 students over capacity. Others like Baird Elementary are no longer designed for today’s educational system.

More on the survey and how you can sound off tonight at 10.
