Local News

The Green Bay Public Area School Board district meeting was this evening and discussion of school safety and having armed guards in the schools was a topic of conversation.

In March, Chief Andrew Smith proposed hiring retired police officers to serve as armed guards in the Green Bay schools.

This particular item wasn’t on the Board’s agenda but they discussed it in length with other community members as well.

Coming up on their next Board meeting on June 18th, the school board will take up a position on Chief Smiths plan, whether they will support it or not.
