Judge Brian Hagedorn declared victory in the state supreme court race early Wednesday morning.

In a post on Facebook, Hagedorn said, “The people of Wisconsin have spoken, and our margin of victory is insurmountable.”

Hagedorn holds a lead by about 5,800 votes over challenger Lisa Neubauer.

According to the AP, conservative Hagedorn and liberal-backed candidate Neubauer were separated by just a few hundred votes out of more than 1.1 million cast, well within the 1 percentage point difference that allows the trailing candidate to request a recount.
