UPDATE: Reckless driver involved in I-43 crash near Denmark charged with 5th OWI

(WFRV) – The Brown County Sheriff’s Office has released more information on the I-43 crash near Denmark that happened on Monday around 1 p.m.

According to a release, the reckless driver was first reported for a sideswipe hit and run eastbound on STH 172.

Officers say they responded to the car after it lost control southbound on I-43.

After investigation, the Sheriff’s Office believes the car lost control, went through the median’s cable barrier, and struck the driver’s side gas tank and trailer connection to a northbound semi-tractor trailer.

Officers say the impact made the truck jacknife and block the northbound roadway.

According to officials, the driver of the reckless car is identified as Brenda Tenpas of Appleton.

Officers say Tenpas was trapped in the car until extracted and suffers significant injuries.

Deputies say Tenpas was impaired and is being charged with her 5th OWI.

The crash remains under investigation.

(WFRV) – A portion of I-43 is closed down due to a crash in Brown County.

According to the Brown County Sheriff’s Office, there is a crash on I-43 northbound near Denmark because of a crash between a semi and a car.
