The city of Green Bay and the homeowners who live there are profiting from visitors who book their stays through Airbnb.
Airbnb reports that since it signed a tax agreement with the city of Green Bay last year, it has brought in $114,000 in tax revenue for the city. The projected revenue was originally $55,000.
The company passes along 10% of the profit a homeowner makes from booking a guest to the city.
The city of Green Bay will use the money to pay off the loans it took on the help expand the KI Convention Center years ago.
This week alone, Green Bay has broken it’s personal Airbnb record by having 900 guests rent properties in the area.
More than 30% of those guests are from California, Airbnb said, and the property owners have made a collective $385,000 from the rentals this week.
