Howard Village Board Voting on Proposed Safety Improvements at Duck Creek Quarry

Local News

The Howard Village Board will be voting on new potential safety measures at the Duck Creek Quarry.

The vote comes after someone nearly drowned in June in a drop-off area in the water.

Some of the safety improvements being considered are ladders along the boardwalk, hand railing, and a life jacket check-out stand. The board will also discuss parking and speed restrictions in the quarry park area, along with a proposal to prohibit smoking.

The Village Board is scheduled to meet at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
