“If you See Something, Say Something:” Woman Who Reported Alleged Fake Doctor Speaks Out

Local News

Jessica Last, a counseling student from Kaukauna, says she first heard of Medical Psychology of Wisconsin, LLC in October, when she saw a video online advertising the practice’s services.

“Some things just really seemed strange about it,” she told Local 5 Friday, one day after news broke of Kyle Larsen’s arrest for allegedly running the practice under the fake name “Dr. Kyle Ellis.”

Last says she decided to investigate, and called the office.

“When I asked about the credentials and he couldn’t answer, he didn’t seem concerned that he couldn’t answer,” she said.

Last then searched online for medical credentials for “Dr. Kyle Ellis.”

That search turned up empty, and Last decided to report her findings to the Appleton Police Department and the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services.

“He was targeting mental illness, but also chronic pain,” Last said of why she decided to get involved. “Those are two groups of people who can very easily get to a place where it feels like there’s no more options, there’s nobody left to help. I didn’t think it was fair that people were going to them thinking that they had the correct training, license, and requirements needed to help them.”

It’s not clear how many reports against Larsen and his practice were filed, but Last says she was relieved to learn of the arrest.

“It felt really good to know that he wasn’t going to be able to hurt anybody else,” she said.

Last added that she’s glad she acted on her suspicions.

“There’s no harm in asking questions,” she told Local 5. “Trust your gut, ask the questions, and be willing to say something. If you see something, say something.”
