IHOP Celebrating National Pancake Day with Free Short Stack for Patrons

Local News

Today is a special day that only comes once a year- National Pancake Day!

As a way of celebrating the day, IHOP is serving up a free short stack of pancakes to patrons. Flap jacks, hot cakes, crepes; no matter what you call it, today is all about the pancake.

Pancake lovers and breakfast conoisseurs alike gathered at IHOP in Ashwaubenon to recognize National Pancake Day.

“Lots of pancakes, especially on pancake day,” said Carissa Baeb, hostess and waitress at IHOP of Ashwaubenon. “We have lots of staffing and we’re ready, we’re ready for people to come in. We’re always very excited- we love pancake day.”

And so too do the people! Some patrons made the trip specifically for some flap jacks.

“This is a family tradition,” says Tamera Shoemake, who traveled from Oshkosh. “IHOP advertises and my other daughter is aware of that so she made good on it.”

“I heard it off of Instagram, actually,” said Anjali Tripp from De Pere. “I follow this girl called ‘Minute with Mads’ and she was just posting all of the national days in March and so I caught it at the right time yesterday and said, ‘Hey, we need to go do this.'”

Though the pancakes are free, patrons are encouraged to make a donation to one of the shop’s charity partners: Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, or Shriners Hospitals for Children. The donation you make goes to benefit those local branches.

And no matter the age, big or small, everyone has at least one favorite topping.

“I like strawberry and it just reminds me of home,” said Shoemake.

“I’m chocoalte chips, for sure. I love chocolate chips on my pancakes,” said Tripp.

“My favorite topping is the butter pecan, absolutely,” said Baeb.
