Kimberly-Clark Tax Bill Still Needs 6 or 7 Votes to Pass

MADISON, Wis. (WFRV) - A tax incentive bill that would keep Kimberly-Clark's Cold Spring plant open reportedly still needs at least a half dozen votes to pass Wisconsin's State Senate.

The bill will need 17 votes to pass, and according to Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald, there are currently 10 or 11 republicans in support of the bill Fitzgerald says a number of senators from both parties are concerned about the dollar amount, which would equal to 100 million dollars in tax incentives. Some are also worried that the bill would set a precedent for all businesses in Wisconsin in danger of closing.

Republicans in favor of the bill have previously stated that they hope to have it passed before the end of Governor Scott Walker's departure in January.
