Through a lemonade stand and bake sale, a group of Oshkosh elementary school students has raised over $1,000 for an area warming shelter.
The idea came from a little girl named Livi who wanted to do what she could to help the Day by Day Warming Shelter in Oshkosh. She decided she’d like to sell lemonade to raise funds for the shelter, and once she told her friends, they wanted to pitch in as well. The group added on a bake sale as well.
Their goal this year was to raise $140. They raised $1,132.
Stephanie Heinritz, Livi’s mom, said she’s grateful for the community’s support, adding:
“I think it’s amazing. There’s not a lot of communities that you can walk into and have everyone come together behind a group of 6 and 7 year olds and boost them up and say ‘This is a great thing you’re doing. Let us be a part of it. Let us help you.’ I’m very proud and very grateful.”
This is the second year the kids have hosted the lemonade stand.
