While the world buzzes over Antonin Scalia’s successor, one local judge remembers him fondly.
Justice Scalia shared a passion for the law and for duck hunting with a Brown County Circuit Court Judge.
Judge William Atkinson was asked to host justice Scalia during a 2010 visit to the green bay catholic diocese.
Judge Atkinson took justice Scalia to his hunting blind, and quickly learned that Scalia was a skilled duck hunter.
Atkinson says “nee-no”, as he called his friend — was down to earth in the duck blind and the court room.
Justice Scalia gave Judge Atkinson a signed, wooden decoy as a memento of their trip.
