The American Red Cross sends people to locations all over the world to help in a time of crisis, and Tuesday morning two volunteers headed out from the Appleton International Airport in Outagamie County to do just that.
Local five caught up with the two volunteers before they took off, for Jackson, Mississippi.
Bob Mayer, who local five spoke with, says the two will head to Jackson for two weeks, doing case-work.
The case-work will involve meeting with those impacted by the floods, and doing interviews and assessments to determine their exact needs.
So far, volunteers say over 3,000 homes have been destroyed, with a similar number of homes damaged in the floods.
