Man arrested after crashing boat into Manitowoc’s South Pier

One man was injured Friday night after the boat he was driving struck the South Pier in Manitowoc.

Police the call came in at 9:08 p.m. Friday for a report of a boat striking the pier.

Authorities arrived on scene to find the 26-foot cabin cruiser boat partially up on the pier, with significant damage to the bow. 

The driver, a 56-year-old Two Rivers man, was arrested for Operating a Motorboat under the influence of an intoxicant after he was taken to a local hospital for his injuries.

The boat was removed from the pier and towed to the Manitowoc Marina, where it was removed from the water.
