Man dies due to gunshot wound in Calumet Co.

UPDATE: Officials say the victim is identified as 19-year-old Brandon Paulson from New Holstein.

The Calumet County Sheriff’s Department reports Paulson was with a group of people passing around a 38 caliber revolver on Saturday. Officials say it is believed Paulson was handling the gun when it went off striking him in the head. No one else was injured and deputies will continue to investigate.


A 19-year-old man is dead after he suffered a gunshot wound in Calumet County.

Authorities got the call around 11:42 Saturday night and responded to the scene on CTH Q near Kiel and the Town of New Holstein.

When they arrived, responders say they found the man had sustained a gunshot wound – but did not specify where or how.

He was flown to a local hospital by Flight for Life where he was later pronounced dead.

Calumet County Sheriff’s Department investigators are interviewing witnesses, and say the community is not in danger.
