One person is said to be okay after he was riding his ATV and broke through the ice on Big Green Lake.

The incident happened about 150 yards north of Sandstone Avenue, west of Horners Landing, at 3:46 p.m. on Sunday.

The driver of the ATV, a 56-year-old man from Nekoosa, said that he broke through about two inches of ice. He told police that he was able to crawl up onto a sheet of ice to get out of the water. He was said to be uninjured after the incident.

Officials say that arrangements are being made to remove the ATV from the lake.

Police want to remind citizens to use great caution when venturing out on any frozen body of water.
