Man Walking on I-43 Struck and Killed by Vehicle Identified

Police have identified the man struck and killed by a vehicle while walking on the southbound lanes of I-43.

Capt. Kevin Warych with the Green Bay Police Department says 29-year-old John Phillips of Green Bay was killed Tuesday morning.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Green Bay Police Department.

UPDATE:

Capt. Kevin Warych with the Green Bay Police Department says a man  was struck and killed by a vehicle while walking on the southbound lanes of I-43 Tuesday morning.

Police say that the driver is cooperating with officials. 

Traffic will continue to be detoured for at least another hour and a half.

Warych says drivers should avoid the area, and instead take the University Avenue exit onto Humboldt Road to Huron to Mason Street.

ORIGINAL POST 6:23 a.m. – Green Bay Police say that one person has died after an accident Tuesday morning in the southbound lanes of I-43 north of E. Mason Street. 

Police say I-43 will be shut down from University Avenue to E. Mason Street for an unknown amount of time.
