A Manitowoc man is behind bars Wednesday morning following an overnight break in investigation.

The call came at approximately 1:18 a.m. Wednesday to the 1000 block of N. 21st Street in Manitowoc for a report of suspicious activity.

Officers searched the area with a K9 unit and found a 26-year-old Manitowoc man on a bike at approximately 1:41 a.m.

Officers questioned the man and learned that he was coming from a residence in the 1800 block of Michigan Avenue.

Officers located items in a bag at that house. Those items linked the man to a burglary that occurred in the 2000 block of Rankin Street. The bicycle that the male was riding also had been stolen from a garage in the same area.

According to police, the man was arrested and held at the Manitowoc County Jail on charges of Burglary, Resisting Arrest, and Felony Bail Jumping.

The Manitowoc Police Department is asking citizens in the area between North 18th Street, west to North 23rd Street and Michigan Avenue, north to Menasha Avenue to check their vehicles and garages and report any missing items to the police department.

Numerous items were recovered and officers are attempting to locate the owners of this property.
