Police are alerting residents after a series of burglaries to Manitowoc homes.

The Manitowoc Police Department has received five reports of home burglaries in the past ten days.

The burglaries have been happening when the residents are not home during the daytime hours.

Officials believe that the suspect or suspects are either attempting contact at the home and entering when no one is home, or watching the area and entering the home when the residents leave for work or another reason.

In one incident, a resident in the 1500 block of New York Avenue left her home at 8:30 a.m. and came home at 11:15 a.m. to find her door had been kicked in and home burglarized.

Other burglaries have happened in the 800 block of North 14th, 800 block of North 15th, 900 block of 15th and the 900 block of North 16th Street.

Police are warning residents to lock their windows and doors before leaving and to report any suspicious activity in their neighborhood.

If you have any information about these burglaries, you are urged to contact police.
