‘Meals on wheels’: Green Bay Area School District purchase trailers to help deliver meals to students

Local News

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – The Green Bay Area Public School District (GBAPSD) has purchased two new trailers to help serve meals to students who are learning virtually.

According to the GBAPSD, almost 30,000 meals have been served since the mobile meal routes were introduced in Oct. 2020.

“Our Food Service Department is proud to have come up with a way to ensure our students have access to nutritious school meals. We know that healthy meals help our students stay alert and engaged in their learning,” says Lynette Kiehnau, District Director of Food Service.

The trailers will still be used once they are no longer needed for serving meals. The plan is for the trailers to be used for the District’s annual summer food program and for special events.

The mobile meal locations are:

  • North Baird Trailer Park
  • VT Pride Park
  • North Danz Trailer Park, AV Terrace Mobile Home Park
  • Navarino Park
