WFRV– This information was sent to Local 5 News on Monday by Mercury Marine’s Director of Public Relations.

Brunswick Corporation (Mercury Marine’s parent company) was a victim of an email phishing incident that resulted in the potential unauthorized disclosure of 2015 W-2 information of a large number of current and former employees—that spans all Brunswick brands in the US, Mercury included.  No one hacked into the Brunswick system nor was there an intrusion of the system, rather it was a sophisticated phishing incident.

Brunswick has been informing affected individuals today, as well as notifying the IRS and cooperating with other agencies as appropriate.
