The Mile of Music released the names of their first 50 artists Thursday for their Mile 5 summer event.

The first fifty artists that were booked were announced during their Official Mile 5 Announcement from OuterEdge Stage.

Those included are 30 newcomers and 20 favorites from the event’s first four years. They have come from 20 different states along with France and Canada.

Among the newcomers are national touring bands San Fermin from Brooklyn, NY, Ron Gallo from Nashville, Cat Clyde from Ontario, Canada and Octave Lissner from Paris, France, while Wild Adriatic, LOLO, Swear and Shake and JC Brooks are among the more notable returnees who have played the first four years, a Mile of Music events coordinator said Thursday.

About half of the artists at Mile 5 are expected to be artists with Wisconsin ties.

More artists are expected to be announced next week.

The Festival will again showcase about 225 singer-songwriters, duos and bands and will likely approach 1,000 live music sets this year after staging just over 900 last August. Approximately 70 venues will again participate. The Lawrence University Music Education Team will be back to coordinate and present more than 60 hands-on music pop-ups for attendees at multiple spots along College Avenue throughout the four days.

Mile of Music is set for August 3-6.
