The Manitowoc Police Department says an eight-year-old boy was found safe after going missing last Thursday night at a local YMCA.

Thursday evening, around 7 p.m., Anthony Hauschultz was at the Manitowoc-Two Rivers YMCA with his family for recreational time together in Manitowoc.

About an hour later, the boy’s mother informed staff she had lost track of the child and was becoming concerned.

YMCA staff immediately conducted a thorough search throughout the building.

The staff could not locate the boy and then called 911.

The police and fire departments arrived at the YMCA and along with staff conducted a search for the boy.

Around 4:30 a.m. on Friday, with police and staff still actively searching in and out of the building, staff were preparing to open the facility to members and the boy was located safely inside the YMCA after evading the search all evening.

He was returned home to his family by the police.
