The Fond du Lac Police Department is investigating a four-vehicle crash that sent multiple people to the hospital.

Police say it happened around 4:30 p.m. Sunday on East Johnson Street and Whispering Springs Boulevard in the City of Fond du Lac.

Preliminary investigation shows that on East Johnson Street near Whispering Springs Boulevard, a Westbound 2001 GMC Jimmy was about to turn left to go into a driveway. A Westbound 2015 GMC Sierra was slowing to drive around the turning vehicle. A Westbound 2008 Volvo semi-truck with trailer that was approaching the traffic congestion, and rear ended the 2015 GMC Sierra. The 2015 GMC Sierra was pushed into the 2001 GMC Jimmy, and this caused the 2001 GMC Jimmy to be pushed into oncoming Eastbound traffic, which then collided with a 2014 Toyota Sienna.

Multiple injured passengers were transported via ambulance to Saint Agnes Hospital, with one injured passenger being transported to ThedaCare Medical Center.

Traffic on East Johnson Street (Highway 23) was diverted for over one-and-a-half hours.

This accident remains under investigation.
