Just in time the start of the new NFL season, the Packers have rolled out new tasty treats for their fans on GameDay. Local 5’s Kris Schuller took a trip to Lambeau to give us a preview of the new food items, football fans can soon feast on.
If you love bacon, brats and even elk with your football you’re going to love the new concession items being featured at Lambeau Field for this season.
“Everything goes well with bacon – we know that,” said Aaron Popkey, director of Public Affairs for the Green Bay Packers.
Thursday the team’s food and beverage partner – Delaware North Sportservice unveiled their new rookie offerings. Many designed to satisfy anyone’s craving for bacon, with titles like the Bacon-Dilla and Bacon Blitz Bread.
“It’s a foot-long pretzel baguette, stuffed with cheese curds and wrapped in Patrick Cudahy double-smoked bacon,” said Executive Chef of Lambeau Field, Heath Barbato.
Like Brandy Old Fashions? You’ll love this foot-long Brandy Old Fashioned brat – topped with tart brandy-cherry sauce.
“I was very skeptical at first but we gave it a whirl and actually the sweet and salt, it kind of works all together,” said Barbato.
Enjoy a Wisconsin Cuban and Buffalo Popcorn Chicken. And for those looking for wildgame – 1919 Kitchen and Tap’s new concession stands are serving Elk Stroganoff.
“We thought what’s better on a cold football day, than a bowl of stroganoff,” said Barbato.
A number of concessions stands have also been newly branded and offer other new items. All part of the team’s plan to enhance the GameDay experience for fans.
“Delaware North Sportservice they do such a great job of coming up with new things for us and we want to keep our fans engaged and food has become such a great part of that experience,” Popkey said.
Popkey says the new food items will please any hungry Packers fan. All taking the field, so to speak, for the first time on Sunday.
