New Holstein to redevelop Tecumseh site with help of $1.16 million grant

Local News

NEW HOLSTEIN, Wis. (WFRV) – The former Tecumseh Industrial building will be demolished in order to redevelop the 40-acre site into a ‘vibrant mixed-use development’.

According to New Holstein, the city has secured $1.16 million in grants, and these funds will assist with the teardown of the former Tecumseh Industrial building.

The building demolition is set to happen in mid-2021.

“This funding is critical in enabling the City of New Holstein to transform this underutilized site and further complement the nearby downtown. By razing the existing building and creating a shovel-ready property, the site will be positioned for redevelopment and more attractive to potential developers,” says Stu Gross, Stantec Senior Project Manager.

Funding was provided through two grants including:

  • The Idle Sites Redevelopment Grant – This grant is for projects that redevelop sites that have been idle, abandoned, or underutilized.
  • The Community Development Block Grant-CLOSE program – This grant is directed for affordable housing, suitable living environments, and expanded economic opportunities for persons with low and moderate incomes.

Engineering firm Stantec assisted New Holstein in the process.
