Update April 27, 2018
The estimated cost to repair two roofs that fell near the ticket area and conference room at the Brown County Arena is between 150 and 200 thousand dollars.
Two weeks ago a blizzard forced large chunks of snow to collapse the roofs.
Public Works hopes the repairs will last at least one year, which is when the county plans to build a new arena.
As of now, the ticket area and conference room are closed.
The repairs are expected to be complete by June 1.
The arena will continue to operate, but some events may be held at the Resch Center.
The Brown County Education and Recreation Committee has given an update on the status of the Brown County Arena after large chunks of snow collapsed the roofs of a lobby and conference room last week.
P-M-I Entertainment, who manages the arena, has already moved some of their events that were scheduled for early summer. A few events scheduled for may have already been moved to Shopko Hall. In the meantime, the arena will continue to operate as is.
The county has already hired an architect plus engineering and a construction firm to work on a replacement roof. The goal is to have the roof replaced by June 1st for their next major event.
They’re also hoping that the roof repairs will last at least another year, which is when they plan to build another arena.
