Ohio Steals the Show at 2019 U.S. Cheese Championship

A baby swiss wheel made by Guggisberg Cheese, based out of Millersburg Ohio, has been named the best cheese in the United States.

This marks the second overall champion title for them at the U.S. Championship Cheese Contest, as they also won it back in 2015 with its Premium Cheese.

The baby swiss wheel received an impressive score of 98.54 out of 100.

Three of the twenty cheesemaker finalists were local contenders from Egg Harbor, Seymour, and Plymouth.

A record-setting 2,555 cheese entries from 35 states were evaluated during the two-day competition at Lambeau.

60 nationally-renowned judges from 20 states judged the cheeses based on flavor, body and texture, salt, color, finish, and appearance.
