One person is dead after a Friday morning fire in Green Lake County, according to the Green Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
The Sheriff’s Office was called out to a house fire at N2828 on Wisconsin 44 in Markesan just after 4 a.m. Friday.
The home was fully engulfed when deputies arrived on scene around 4:15 a.m., according to police.
During the beginning stages of the fire investigation, human remains were found and have not been positively identified at this time, according to the Green Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
The cause and origin of the fire have not yet been established.
The fire investigation continues and will involve the State of Wisconsin Fire Marshalls Office, Markesan Fire Services, the Green Lake County Coroner, and Sheriff’s Office.
Units responding to this fire were the Markesan Fire Department and Emergency Management, Green Lake County Sheriff’s Office and Coroner, Markesan EMS, and State Fire Marshalls Office.
