Elsa was injured in an accident last Friday night while she was in a vehicle who collided with a train, this marked the second deadly accident involving trains this month.
In Friday’s accident two people died and another person was transported to a hospital, the dog was found the next day and now the Oshkosh Humane Society is looking for donations because Elsa needs an emergency surgery.
“I think Elsa is a really sweet girl and she’s in so much pain and such a trooper,” said Cari Tetzlaff of the Oshkosh Humane Society. “She’s allowing our staff to handle her even though she is uncomfortable, she’s patient with us so that suggests this is a really great dog.”
Tetzlaff said that the Humane Society received a call on Saturday from someone who spotted the dog, their staff raced over to get Elsa and found her with a bloody snout and she was limping, a veterinarian discovered she has a broken hip.
So now the Humane Society is trying to raise funds for an expected cost of $5,000, but already an anonymous donor has pledged that they will match $1,500.
“We are so blessed to have this incredible community here in Oshkosh, they have proven time and time again that they care about animals,” said Tetzlaff. “We have faith that people will be able to step forward to help us give Elsa the happily ever after she deserves after this tragic accident.”
If you want to donate you can go to their website, give them a call at 920-424-2128 or stop by their location at 1925 Shelter Ct in Oshkosh.
