Oshkosh man arrested for allegedly beating 2-month-old daughter

An Oshkosh man in jail for allegedly severely beating his own infant daughter.

Richard Root, 20, was arrested and is facing physical abuse of a child charges. 

According to Oshkosh Police, the unidentified man took the two-month-old child to Aurora Hospital on March 3rd. Due to the extent of the injuries, the two-month-old was eventually transported to Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee by helicopter. 

During the investigation and medical treatment, it was determined that the two-month-old sustained at least 20 broken bones, which included injuries to the ribs, legs and arms. These injuries were in various stages of healing. The child also had multiple brain bleeds and bruises about the face and head. 

The child has since been released from Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee and is with a family member.
