The city of Oshkosh says the historic Pioneer Inn property will be demolished soon.
The Pioneer Inn was a popular vacation spot after it opened decades ago, but hasn’t been open to the public for about 15 years. The property’s owners had been told to resolve the code violations the building had developed in the years since, and ultimately applied for a demolition permit from the city.
“The years of wear and tear, with it being exposed to all the elements, really kind of set its fate,” City Manager Mark Rohloff said. “Eventually, I think they recognized it was probably better to tear it down, rather than try to rehab it for something in the future.”
Rohloff tells Local 5 that the demolition will likely take place within the next few months.
