Packers’ Aaron Jones fulfills promise to parents, prepares for graduation

It’s been a long year for former UTEP running back and current Green Bay Packer, Aaron Jones. Deciding to leave UTEP with one year of eligibility left, he joined the NFL and made a promise to his parents that he’d complete his degree at UTEP.

Saturday, his promise will become a reality. 

Jones is among 40 UTEP Student Athletes who will graduate with their degrees on Saturday. The list includes 13 football players, five from track and field, four from men’s golf, softball and tennis, three from volleyball, two from women’s golf and soccer, one from men’s basketball, women’s basketball and rifle.

Jones, who will earn his degree in Multidisciplinary Studies, was UTEP’s all-time leading rusher with 4,114 yards and ranks seventh on Conference USA’s all-time rushing list. In his rookie season with the Packers, he rushed for 448 yards and four touchdown. 

His twin brother, Alvin, signed as a priority free agent with the Baltimore Ravens in late April.3
