Fans told us that they are said to see beloved wide receiver and veteran Packers player Jordy Nelson let go, but some are hopeful for the franchise’s future.
“Maybe they have their reason for letting him go, but I guess later in the day as time goes on we’ll get to know the real reason why they let him go,” Stephane N Zi of Atlanta, GA, said. “But for now, as a fan, I’ll say i’m disappointed.”
Fans will miss watching the bond between the wide receiver and quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
“I originally saw the signing Jimmy Graham, I’m like okay, nice, and then I saw, and we cut Jordy and I dropped my phone,” Sebastian Weatherford of Naples, FL, said. “He’s such a good guy and it’s fun watching him and Rodgers just do what they do, like they do the little thumbs up, they’re just such good friends and it’s really heartbreaking to see a fan-favorite like that go.”
Management at the Green Bay Jersey Store, just a couple blocks away from Lambeau Field, believes that Nelson’s jersey will still be a big seller whether he retires or goes to a new team.
“I think for the most part Jordy Nelson will still be demanded by the Packer fans even though he’s been released and everything like that,” Luke Sigl, the store’s assistant manager, said. “He’s always been a big seller for us and everything like that, so I think even if he goes to another team, people wanna have his jersey because of how much respect they had for him.”
While fans will miss Jordy, they’re awaiting to see what the packers’ next moves will be.
“I kind of like that they’re actually making moves because from what I know they don’t sign a whole lot of people in free agency, so it’s nice to see that they’re going out there and spending a little bit of money before Aaron Rodgers gets it all,” Ray Downey of Green Bay said.
