Packers fans react to Hundley’s first start in Green Bay’s loss

Local News

The Green Bay Packers lost to the New Orleans Saints 26-17 in the first game since Aaron Rodgers went down with a broken collarbone.

Quarterback Brett Hundley made his first career start going 12-25 with with 87 yards and one interceptions, he did rush for 44 yards including his first NFL touchdown.

Despite the loss, fans have faith in their new quarterback and hope that Hundley will be able to guide the Packers until Rodgers returns.

Before the game Local 5 caught up with fans at The Bar and found that fans were optimistic saying that everybody has to start somewhere, however another fan was hoping for a strong ground attack so the offensive performance wouldn’t fall on Hundley’s shoulders.

In the first half it worked as the Packers took a 14-7 lead into half, that inluded an impressive opening drive where Aaron Jones gained 70 yards on the ground, capped off with a 46 yard touchdown run.

However, in the 2nd half the Saints outscored Green Bay 19-3 as the Packers mustered only four first downs.

Despite the loss Packers fans are standing by Brett Hundley and out of all the fans we talked to coming out of Lambeau Field none of them think the Packers would be able to find a better option at quarterback.

Fans also said that the team around Hundley has to be better, fans cited the defense who didn’t force a punt in the second half, they also cited the coaching, specifically the play calling.

Fans are still optimistic about the season as the loss drops Green Bay to 4-3 on the season and with nine games remaining they said the Packers just have to find a way to win games until Rodgers hopefully returns late in the season.

The Packers have a bye week, their next game will be on Monday Night against the Detroit Lions on November 5th, to see the reactions by the fans check out the video.
