Packers Newcomer Jimmy Graham Holds Cornhole Charity Event

Local News

One of the newest additions to the Packers roster, tight end Jimmy Graham, held a cornhole tournament at Badger State Brewing on Sunday with 100% of the proceeds benefiting his two favorite charities.

Graham is a certified aviation pilot and has chartered flights with both the Wounded Warrior Project and Angel Flight. He chose those two charities to receive all the profits from the tournament.

“One of my first flights was actually a burn victim, where I transported a burn victim to a facility to get some treatments,” Graham said about his work with Angel Flight. “It was one of the most  gratifying things I’ve ever done, just to share one, my passion of flying, and two, to really help someone that really needed it.”

Graham said he spent part of his childhood growing up in Fort Bragg, and has had multiple family members serve in the military, which inspired his support for Wounded Warrior.

“I was giving out Wounded Warrior flights in Seattle in my seaplane and taking them up, teaching them how to fly, hearing their story, talking football, and teaching them how to land on water,” Graham said of his time helping veterans.

“Having people who support the veterans is a great thing, but someone who knows it from a personal perspective because they’ve seen it and experienced it from family perspective, it means even more,” Jamie Morris, a veteran and outreach coordinator with the Wounded Warrior Project, said.

The cornhole tournament allowed Graham to get to know Green Bay fans, and vice versa.

“Talked to him a little bit, just told him thank you for having this tournament and told him good luck on the season and hope he scores a lot of touchdowns,” Allan Schulte, a Packers fan from Baraboo, said.

Without even suiting up in green and gold for his first preseason game yet, Graham has already made a profound impact on the community. He says he’s excited for this next chapter.

“I wanted people to really get to know me, know who I am, what my passions are, and how ready I am to start this season,” Graham said.
