Paws Parade of Hope helps those battling cancer

Local News

Some dapper dogs strutted their stuff on the catwalk (or dogwalk) Sunday.

It was all for the 13th annual Paws Parade of Hope held at the Riverside Ballroom in Green Bay.

There was plenty of silent raffle items, a live auction and great food to go along with the furry fashion show.

The event celebrated those fighting cancer and honors those who have lost their battle to cancer.

“This is what it’s about, it’s about healing you can get from pets, from other cancer survivors,” says Linda Fairchild who is a cancer survivor. “I’m going on 18 years cancer free when I had doctors that told me you have limited life-span and you’ll never return to work. Look at me now.”

Organizers say the money raised at the event goes to help cancer patients pay for finances while they are battling their disease.

Local 5’s Chelly Boutott and Nate Stewart were lucky enough to see the pooches in person as they emceed the event.
