One teen was taken into custody after police say he beat a homeless man nearly to death in the Town of Menasha.
“I came back to my room and dude had drank a half bottle of Everclear and passed out on my floor,” said motel guest Jordan Krueger.
At 11:19 p.m. on Wednesday, officers were sent the Valley Inn Motel in the 2000 block of Holly Road after receiving a report of a man severely beaten and thought to be dead. The report also stated that there was also drug and alcohol use and underage persons in the room. Police did not find drugs or alcohol.
“It’s certainly concerning to us that something like this would happen,” said Officer Jason Weber of the town of Menasha Police Department. “A person would get beat that bad and nobody from that room contact us and just leave that guy there.”
When police and paramedics arrived to the scene, they were greeted by three men. The men told police that they saw another man lying in the bathroom, injured and unresponsive.
The victim, a 31-year-old homeless man, was transported to an area hospital where he remains hospitalized.
After an investigation, police say that a 16-year-old boy was responsible for the injuries to the man. The boy was taken into custody and is being held in secure detention.
The investigation is ongoing.
